PROJEKT UX APLIKACJI MOBILNEJ

PRODUKT

Mobile application for international transport drivers to control combustion and economic driving.

The application will be connected to the control unit in the vehicle. This enables data such as the degree of gas pressure, land analysis (how many degrees the vehicle goes up a hill), route prediction, traffic jam behavior and many others to be analyzed.

PROBLEM

Provide the user with real time driving tips to improve their performance. Inform them about their ranking position and the benefits associated with it.

GOAL

Mobile application that controls and supports the driver in economic driving.

MY ROLE

UX designer. Tasks: creating information architecture, preparing wireframes, conducting usability tests and designing the interface.

PROCESS

The project was created using the Design Sprint process, in which we went through the stages from understanding the problem, planning and sketching to creating a prototype and testing it.

 

PERSONA

In the first step, I prepared personas on the ground of interviews with drivers of international freight transport. That allowed me to identify what drivers value in their work, what elements they resent and what are their needs

 

RESEARCH

I have initially analyzed the competitive solutions, their strengths and weaknesses. From concepts to applications available on our market.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

I have made a preliminary planning of the application scheme.  What screens should the project consist of and how they are linked.

SKETCHES

I have prepared a draft application scheme. Given the specific nature of the truck driver’s profession, I have made the following assumptions:

  • Slightly larger component dimensions. The application, although it shouldn’t, probably will be used by drivers while driving as well. Physical workers usually have larger hands and fingers, which I had to take into account for the so-called misclicks.
  • The application should have a simple design. Drivers are often non-technical people who do not use mobile applications.
  • There is also a large percentage of people from the Middle East among the target group – the application will be translated into several languages. This should be kept in mind when designing labels, buttons, etc.

PROTOTYPE

USABILITY TESTS

I conducted remote usability tests on 21 users. Two versions of the application were tested. The scenario consisted of 7 stages, in which users had to perform specific actions on the application prototype.

  • Logging in
  • Selecting the advice that they consider most important (top priority)
  • Going to history and checking the result for the previous month
  • Returning to the desktop/dashboard
  • Going to the ranking and current position
  • Checking the notification
  • Logging out

RESULTS

The tests allowed to identify strengths and weaknesses of the application. The final design has changed accordingly:

  • Menu label names – Desktop instead of result
  • Dashboard/desktop layout
  • Nomenclature of results
  • Ranks
  • Advice sorting

GAMIFICATION

A bonus system for the best drivers has been created. It enables to win badges, to compete with other drivers and to gain bonuses from the employer.

FINAL PROJECT

The application can analyze data such as the degree of gas pressure, GPS land, surface slope and driver’s driving behavior by connecting to the central unit in the vehicle. The application provides the driver with advice on how to reduce combustion. Good results are rewarded with badges in the application and on this basis the employer can reward the best drivers.

Additionally, in close cooperation with the client, the view and operation of the Eco-Driving report in the web application for forwarders was designed.
